Exciting opportunity exists for a Nurse Consultant (UCSF payroll title: Clinical Nurse II Req. #24813BR) position located in the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Tuberculosis Control Branch in Richmond, CA.

The Tuberculosis Control Branch is made up of a team of dedicated public health professionals who provide leadership and resources to control and eliminate tuberculosis in California; the Branch is regarded as a national leader in innovative TB control projects.

The Nurse Consultant will be a member of the program liaison team and the multi-drug resistant TB (MDR TB) service; provide nursing consultation to a region of local health department TB programs on highly complex issues; serve as an expert TB clinical nurse to develop and oversee program improvement strategies in an assigned region of California; conduct on-site evaluations of local TB control programs to ensure TB patients are appropriately case-managed through completion of therapy and to ensure TB transmission is halted; develop and coordinate effective action plans with the local health departments to meet TB Indicators Project objectives; prepare and perform TB training to various community agencies and local health jurisdiction staff on a variety of disease interventions aimed at treatment completion and case management, directly observed therapy and contact investigation; develop and interpret guidelines and protocols related to TB nursing; provide expert consultation related to TB nursing case management; provide oversight for complex and drug-resistant TB patients within the State; participate in all aspects of education and training provided by the program; and perform other duties as assigned.
